To provide participants with the knowledge and skill and confidence to operate a Forklift safely reducing
the possibility of injury and accidents to personnel and damage to property.
COURSE CONTENT:
On completion of this course, participants will be able to demonstrate a competence in the theory and
practice of the following:
Forklift Operators Responsibilities
Pre-Start checks
Forklift accidents
Pre-operating checks
Principles Engineering
General Operating Techniques
Forklift Stability
Forklift Manoeuvring
Safe Working Loads (SWL)
Staking and De-staking
and will be able to: –
Be conversant with explosive limits
Be conversant with toxicity limits
Store chemicals/handle chemicals correctly
Understand chemical effects on humans and the environment
COMPETENCY:
Participants are required to pass an assessment of practical skills and a written or verbal examination of
theory.
PRE REQUISITE:
Participants should have not less than 100 hours of forklift experience prior to attending the one-day
training program.
Personnel with less than 100 hours should enrol in the three-day program.
COURSE DURATION:
A basic course is conducted over five (5) days for participants with less than 100 hours operating
experience.
For participants with more than 100 hours a three (3) day course is offered.
METHOD OF TRAINING:
Theory and practical sessions followed by a test of theory and a practical assessment.
